Overview
Chemka (also known as Kikuletwa) is one of the most beautiful natural swimming spots in East Africa - a crystal-clear hot spring fed by underground water from Kilimanjaro's glaciers, surrounded by lush tropical jungle and ancient fig trees.
The spring maintains a constant temperature of around 26°C - perfect for swimming year-round. The crystal visibility allows you to see several metres into the depths. Rope swings hang from the fig trees overhead.
It's only a short drive from Moshi, making it perfect as a half-day refresh before or after a Kilimanjaro climb, or simply a relaxing escape from town.
