Overview

Four days is the ideal way to experience Mount Meru. The additional day at Miriakamba Hut transforms a demanding climb into a genuinely immersive East African adventure - giving you a full morning wildlife game walk inside Arusha National Park before the altitude begins to matter.

On this route you spend two nights at Miriakamba Hut (2,514m), using Day 2 for an extended game walk through the forest and around the base of the crater, before ascending to Saddle Hut (3,570m) on Day 3. The extra acclimatization day pushes the success rate to 94% - the highest of any Meru itinerary - and makes the summit day significantly more comfortable.

The four-day route is our strongest recommendation for anyone using Meru as a Kilimanjaro warm-up. You arrive at Kili with three nights above 2,500m already in your legs, a body that has adapted to altitude, and a confidence that comes from having already stood on a 4,566m summit.
